Educational Interpreter
***
Pay Rate: $32.80/hour
***The purpose of the Educational Interpreter position is to provide visual presentation of what is being said to students who are deaf or hard of hearing using various modes of communications such as cues, sign language, finger spelling or oral interpretation and verbal communication from these students to others, to assist with the attainment of academic concepts and facilitate activities that contribute to school life experience.

Education and experience for EA Interpreter positions:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • The Interpreter Training Diploma for Deaf Education (a 3 year College program); and
  • One (1) to three (3) years experience
  • 200 hours of American Sign Language required before admission to the educational program
  • Finger spelling
  • Advanced level computer skills for word processing and spreadsheets:

Successful applicants will be required to undergo a Functional Assessment to determine their ability to perform the physical aspects of the job.
