The Opioid Case Manager will have a thorough understanding of substance use (particularly opiate use), concurrent disorders, harm reduction, recovery model and population health principles.

The Opioid specialist will be part of the Addiction and Concurrent Disorders Team and will work in close collaboration with community partners, (PAARC, CMHA Peel, and Punjabi Community Health Services).


Key Qualifications:

***- Professional qualification in a health discipline with addictions specific training required.

  • Certification through the Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation considered an asset.
  • Several years' experience working with adult clients with mental illness and substance use issues.
  • Thorough knowledge of Substance use disorders and substances of abuse
  • Demonstrated ability to assess clients, implement a service plan and facilitate referral to treatment programs within a short term model of care.
  • Experience with utilizing motivational interviewing skills and techniques.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Excellent communication, organization, presentation and problem solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license, relevant insurance and use of own vehicle.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and cooperatively with community partners.
  • Ability to speak a second language is considered an asset.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Reliable, flexible and collaborative team player.
