Position Overview

The Online Marketing Coordinator supports a coordinated online marketing and digital communications strategy to effectively promote the Cultural Services Division.

Working in collaboration with marketing and community engagement staff in the Libraries Department and Museums, Gallery & Archives Department, the Online Marketing Coordinator ensures the consistent and effective use of online platforms to engage new and diverse audiences.

This is achieved through the creation of digital content including photography, video, interactive and graphic assets to enhance public engagement with the programs and services offered by the Cultural Services Division.


Responsibilities:

Digital Product Creation

  • Identify and develop campaignfocused content that share the achievements and offerings of the Cultural Services Division across digital platforms (blog postings, online publications, website content, etc.).
  • Create engaging digital content for use across media platforms, including but not limited to photography, video, interactive, and graphic assets.
  • Develop new and innovative ideas for digital storytelling in collaboration with relevant staff throughout the Cultural Services Division.
  • Serve as a resource to Division staff and contractors with all technical aspects of video production for online use, including the execution of postproduction editing.
  • Develop and maintain content for internally run digital signage.
  • Deliver highquality event, exhibit and program related photography for online use and digital publication.
Administrative

  • Support the creation of digital content for social media to promote the events, programs, and services of the Division, including photography, video, interactive and graphic assets.
  • Collate and report back to each Department monthly performance statistics for all digital communications platforms across all channels, using these statistics to make recommendations to management regarding future online activity.
  • Ensure corporate standards are adhered to across the Division and ensure brand management in terms of the consistent implementation of online communications.
  • Explore crosspromotional opportunities with external partner agencies (tourism organizations, regional and provincial marketing initiatives, professional associations, etc.) to enhance the promotion of programs and services offered by the Cultural Services Division.
  • Support digital content creation and the pursuit of new marketing opportunities (online exhibitions, interactives, video production, etc.).
Website/Social Media Content Management

  • Support the development and implementation of a broad Social Media campaign framework in consultation with marketing and community engagement staff, ensuring engaging and consistent content and relevant copy for the different platforms.
  • Produce scheduled, campaignspecific social media activity in consultation with marketing and community engagement staff to ensure consistent exposure and promotion across all channels.
  • Track progress of live campaignspecific online marketing activity and recommend adjustments as needed.
  • Coordinate all Cultural Services Division website improvements, working with the Division management team and external vendors and continually monitor websites for improvement.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of strategies that increase website Search Engine Optimization results.
  • Assist with the training of Division staff members as directed to adapt to new and emergent features for online platforms, ensuring staff remain current with social media trends.
  • Maintain an organized Division file library of digital assets such as photography and video for various uses, and act as a resource to all Departments to ensure a consistent organizational framework for the same.
  • Ensure appropriate release forms and permissions for use are established for digital assets as required.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of existing website content, and update with new content as provided by various staff members.
  • Keep up to date with changes and advances in social media and make recommendations on new channels and approaches to adopt.
