This role sits within Laurentian Bank Securities, a subsidiary of Laurentian Bank.


The role of the economist is to bring analytical expertise in support to the Chief Economist and to participate at several activities to achieve objectives of Laurentian Bank Financial Group.


Responsibilities:

o Contribute to develop key economic and financial views

o Conduct in-depth research for customers and corporate functions

o Write relevant reports on Canadian economics and provincial fiscal situations

o Build presentation layouts and charts to clients and manage data

o Contribute to economic inputs tied to strategic and regulatory activities

o Discuss actively with colleagues on the capital markets desk

o Meet clients to discuss about economic views


Qualifications:

o Graduate studies in economics or finance

o Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in economics and finance

o Experience in the banking and financial sector, an asset

o CFA designation, an asset

o Very good knowledge of economic trends and fiscal and monetary policies

o Good knowledge of fixed income, equities, and FX markets

o Intellectual curiosity and capacity to learn

o Strong skills relative to analytics, writing and synthesizing

o Very good proficiency in office tools and statistical programs

o Excellent proficiency in written and spoken English and French*o Very good interpersonal and presentation skills

o Capacity to initiate projects with effective oriented results

o Ability to work in a small team
