Responsibilities:

Governance_

  • Developing, implementing, communicating, and maintaining governance, risk and compliance policies, processes and procedures.
  • Ensuring Muslim Hands Canada is in compliance with statutory governance requirements through developing the organisations understanding of all such requirements and ensuring all documentation and policies are accurate and regularly reviewed and updated as well as delivering policy training for staff and board members
  • Lead on the organisation of board meetings including sharing the agenda and all relevant documentation prior to the meeting and accurately record board meeting minutes, action plans and monitor the progress of agreed action points
  • Maintain and update board member records, including collating declarations of interest and updating register of interests, registering, and removing board members from Canada Revenue Agency
  • Complete new partner due diligence checks as well as ensuring all documentation is up to date for existing partners. Maintaining regular contact with partners to address any governance related matters and ensuring all concerns are addressed and escalated
  • Leading on the completion of donor due diligence checks as per CRA requirements and maintaining the organizations compliance with any such requirements
  • Risk management ensuring a suitable risk management system is put in place to protect the organization from harm including but not limited to compliance (legal or regulatory), operational, strategic, governance, financial and reputational
  • Ensuring audits are facilitated, issues arising during the audit are dealt with in a timely manner and escalating if required

Human Resources_

  • Be the first point of contact for employees and assisting with all internal and external HR related inquiries
  • Responsible for effective staff recruitment from point of advertising through to efficient onboarding and issuing contracts and adding new starters to MH HR systems
  • Effectively completing induction with new starters as well as working closely with departmental leads to ensure suitable training plans are in place
  • Supporting department leads with probation reviews, absence management, disciplinary issues, variations of contracts and staff leaving processes
  • To proactively promote excellence regarding all Muslim Hands' Values, Policies, Procedures and Processes including but not limited to Personnel Expectations, Safeguarding, Health and Safety and Wellbeing
  • Keep up to date with the latest HR policies, trends and cultural best practices and offer suggestions for improvement and maintain overall HR compliance
  • Facilitate employee reviews by line managers and ensure issues arising during reviews are accurately recorded and together with management supporting the resolution of all such issues
  • Proactively develop opportunities to improve staff development and capacity through training and feedback

Essential

  • Bachelor's degree in management or equivalent.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues.
  • Experience in educating and coaching staff.
  • Experience in conflict resolution, disciplinary processes, and workplace investigations.
  • Experience in following and maintaining workplace privacy.
  • Ability to give presentations.
  • Knowledge of relevant health and safety laws.
  • Experience using computers for a variety of tasks.
  • Demonstrate ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Excellent active listening, negotiation and presentation skills
  • People oriented and results driven
  • Possess exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to demonstrate current eligibility to work in Canada

Desirables

  • Demonstrate relevant NGO/Charity experience
  • Proven working experience in HR and Governance
  • Demonstrable experience with Human Resources metrics
  • Knowledge of HR systems and databases
  • Ability to architect strategy along with leadership skills
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company
  • Indepth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices

Job Types:
Full-time, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 12 months


Salary:
$40,000.00-$45,000.00 per year
