- Teaching music education to Lower School and preschool aged students to help them grow in their enjoyment, appreciation and performance of music through a variety of music experiences including singing, moving to music, listening and participating in school performances;
- Preparing, developing and implementing engaging music lesson plans for Lower School and preschool aged students that build knowledge through exploratory and experimental learning;
- Planning and conducting musical activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, investigate and solidify grade appropriate concepts;
- Helping support Bayview Glen's choir programme (as an accompanist) as well as Lower School concerts and musicals;
- Using a variety of teaching strategies and instructional materials to meet the diverse learning needs of students;
- Observing and evaluating each student's performance, behavior, social development, and physical health;
- Promoting a classroom environment dedicated to the BVG "Whole Child, Whole Life and Whole World" educational philosophy.
- An undergraduate degree in music education or child development, or related field from an accredited college or university;
- A degree or diploma in Early Childhood Education or OCT qualifications;
- 2+ years of successful music teaching experience with children as young as 2 years old;
- Ability to utilize a vast variety of musical accompaniments such as piano (RCM Level 6 minimum), guitar, technology and voice in your teachings;
- Experience teaching Kindermusik, Orff-Schulwerk, or Kodály would be an asset;
- A love of children and music;
- Ability to create a warm and inviting learning environment that supports the needs of different learning styles;
- Inspiring a love of music in preschool-aged students with an amazing attitude and ability to be patient, understanding, and enthusiastic;
- The desire to build a long-term relationship with your students and with our community;
- Knowledge of How Does Learning Happen and the Child Care and Early Years Act;
- Familiarity with the Reggio Emilia philosophy considered an asset;
- Willingness and enthusiasm towards participating in the co-curricular program and school community;
- Valid child and infant First Aid/CPR certification;
- Up to date Immunizations and new TB results.
