Position Summary:

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the maintenance of network and communication resources
  • Manages network services including security, user accounts, server configuration, data backup and recovery, disaster recovery planning and obsolescence planning
  • Plans, coordinates and performs daily activities of IT operations
  • Ensures data recovery, maintenance, data integrity and space requirements are met across a variety of platforms to meet business needs/objectives
  • Follows industry best practices for monitoring network/system security along with performance metrics and service levels that meet Musqueam's functional needs
  • Manages the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade and support of IT systems, including networks, servers, PC's, operating systems and associated hardware, and multifunction devices
  • Manages telecommunication suppliers, including fixed and mobile phones and related systems; provider user support to these systems, as needed
  • Works with IT consultants on various projects and maintenance
  • Responsible for procurement, installation and lifecycle maintenance of IT hardware and software, within the IT budget
  • Administers user accounts for IT (Active Directory, Exchange, Lotus Notes) and phone systems (voice mail, phone sets): create, change, delete, user permissions, etc.,
  • Performs regular file archival and purge as necessary as per policy
  • Identifies needs and participates in creating IT policies, procedures and technical specifications, and is responsible for maintaining
  • Provides accurate record keeping for IT asset list; document and maintain infrastructure assets, licensing, warranties of software and hardware; ensure warranties are up to date, and proper disposal of assets
  • Troubleshoots and resolves hardware, connections, printer and software issues
  • Supports and maintain servers and network infrastructure (Microsoft servers, routers, network switches, SAN storage) as well as collaborative infrastructure (e.g. Skype, Calendar, etc.)
  • Manages and update workstation software using industry and Microsoft best practices
  • Performs daily backup operations, ensuring all required files systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes/disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary
  • Monitors and removes virus, spyware and other nonauthorized software and intrusions
  • Maintains data center environmental and monitoring equipment
  • Provides support with hardware/software maintenance of the Musqueam website
  • Provides support in setting up GBM audio recording and computer system
  • Evaluates user needs and system functionality and ensure that IT meet these needs
  • Participates and supports capacity planning and development of long term strategic goals for systems and software in conjunction with end users and managers
  • Is available on call during an emergency IT disaster
  • Other related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Diploma in Information Technology or equivalent work experience and/or certificates
  • 5 years of work experience in an infrastructure position or a similar role
  • Demonstrated experience in infrastructure planning and operations for multiplatform environments
  • Strong technological knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, virtualization, security and standards
  • Good Understanding of Windows Server software ( 2008, 2016)
  • Knowledge of Server Hardware (Routers, Switches, SAN)
  • Knowledge of firewall technology
  • Experience working with Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 10
  • PC base knowledge to install and setup and connect to network
  • Network and internet knowledge using ADSL and Cable, cable fibre and wireless
  • Knowledge of Apple hardware and software
  • Knowledge of mobile device management
  • Familiar with wireless technology
  • Knowledge and experience in printers and scanners drivers installation
  • Background in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Experience in enterprise backup and recovery solutions
  • Knowledge of Musqueam and First Nations history, culture, and aboriginal title and rights preferred
  • Ability to effectively work on multiple projects concurrently
  • Ability to prioritize in a demanding environment
  • Ability to understand and grasp assignment needs and requirements, anticipate and solve problems
  • Strong communication skills, with a respectful style that is attentive to the end user
  • Ability to adapt to change, and changing priorities, with a desire for continuous learning and practice new skills
  • Ability to train users; explain technical concepts to nontechnical users and guide users on IT best practices
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to monitor departmental expenditures and operate within annual departmental budgets
