Purpose:


The Principal Data Science determines the nature and structure of data analytical solutions within MEX and the vehicle used to deliver them i.e.

via internal or external resources. They manage and/or provide technical oversight on external partnerships where data analytics is used.


About the Role:


  • Strategy: Maintain a fiveyear strategic road map for the continual development and implementation of data analytics in mineral exploration.
  • Business Partner Management: Manage third party relationships, either technically, administratively or both, where data analysis is a major component of the service provided
  • Governance: Be held accountable for the quality assurance of outputs
  • Machine Learning Practice: Direct contribution on the geophysical and geological aspects to mineral systems framework design (feature generation) and provide advice on aspects of individual model design and utilization of outputs.

About You:


  • Degree in Computer Science, Statistics or Mathematics or any data science related field from a reputable university
  • Advanced English language skills
  • Advanced Degree in Data Science or related field.
  • Fluency in Spanish language is desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, manage and create value through innovation
  • Experience in the development of partnerships (both internal and external)
  • Strong desire and demonstrated ability to identify and implement opportunities for step change performance improvements
  • Selfstarting individual with demonstrated curiosity and ability to identify crossdisciplinary ideas through a global network
  • Ability to influence and engage with colleagues and experience working collaboratively through different teams in different locations to achieve results
