We are currently looking for a
Meter Reader II to join our Meter Services Team in a permanent position.


Accountabilities:


Reporting to the Field Supervisor, you will:

  • Be responsible to read and install meters in assigned geographical territories.
  • As required, assist with the reading of meters in various areas of the your territory, obtain meter check readings and meter reads associated with customer service orders.
  • Be accountable to communicate with customers in a friendly, professional manner and be able to accurately complete all work assigned in a timely and efficient manner.
  • You may be temporarily assigned to other locations to assist other areas when required and will be expected to travel throughout the province.
  • Be required to participate in regulatory training and onthejob training or training programs that support the development of additional skills.
  • To meet customer demand, you will be required to work between 8:00am and 8:00pm (Monday to Friday) for an average of 40 hours per week.
  • Be responsible for personal safety and that of coworkers, by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.
  • Be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the Environmental Management System processes and initiatives.

What skills will make you successful?
You recognize yourself in most of the following competencies, and where possible possess the skills and experience listed below:

  • A Grade XII education or equivalent is required.
  • You must hold a valid Nova Scotia Driver's License with a minimum of two years driving experience and provide a driver's abstract satisfactory to NSPI.
  • You will have excellent interpersonal and listening skills and the ability to express yourself clearly and confidently.
  • You must be able to work with customers in difficult situations and work under pressure while still maintaining a high standard of customer service.
  • You will be able to work with minimum supervision, display excellent knowledge of company rules and regulations, demonstrate excellent customer service skills, and work in a safe and efficient manner.
  • A working knowledge of computers is an asset.
  • You must present yourself in a professional manner with appropriate attire and be able to meet the physical challenges of the position.

Conditions and Physical Capabilities:


  • Must be able to lift a range of 520lbs. from the floor to above shoulder on a mínimal basis.
  • Able to carry 20 lbs. with both hands mínimally, with the overall ability to carry 8lbs occasionally.
  • Able to push and pull with upper and whole body strength on a mínimal basis up to 12 lbs.
  • Perform frequent static reaching between waist level and shoulder level, along with performing mínimal reaching below waist and above shoulder.
  • Perform frequent sitting and twisting while in vehicle.
  • Perform occasional walking, bending, stooping, forward flexional reaching, and neck flexion and rotation.
  • Perform mínimal standing, squatting, climbing, and neck extension and side flexion.
  • Ability to perform fine finger manipulation and possess a simple to firm grasp while performing pinching motions.
