The Customer Service Attendant is responsible for providing superior customer service and maintaining positive customer relationships while performing check-in duties.

This position backs up ground service attendants and may also assist in providing ground service duties when required.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensure that passengers travelling are deemed "fit to fly" in accordance with the regulations.
  • Assist passengers to enplane, deplane and with their baggage.
  • Track lost luggage to and from all bases and mine sites.
  • Monitor radio and communicate as required.
  • Where required at a base:
  • Accept and handle cargo according to respective customers' cargo screening programs.
  • Inquire with passengers about dangerous goods in baggage and cargo.
  • Process and/or track all baggage and freight requirements.
General Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain knowledge of the company's vision, mission, and values.
  • Customers service attendants will be crosstrained with ground service attendants, detailers, and cargo agents, where applicable, to provide those duties/coverage when necessary.
  • Safety responsibilities as outlined in the Safety Management System (SMS) manual.

Qualifications:


Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position include a high school diploma, with one to two years' progressive customer service experience.

Previous work experience or training in aviation is considered an asset. A combination of education and experience may be considered.


Skills, knowledge, and abilities include:

  • Demonstrated experience in serving a diverse and complex customer base.
  • Professional judgement and welldefined conflict resolution skills in handling sensitive situations with tact, diplomacy, and high ethical standards.
  • Able and willing to work on modified schedules, including early mornings, late nights, and holidays.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Provincial driver's license, Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC) and an Airside Vehicle Operators Permit (AVOP) where required at a base.
  • Complete WHIMS and Dangerous Goods Awareness Training.

  • Baggage handling equipment
  • Radio base unit
Typical Physical and Cognitive Demands

  • Required to be on call for evening and weekend shifts and may be required to respond to callouts as required.
  • Able to work long and sometimes irregular hours under different weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ground and/or air travel required.
