Women in Resource Development Corporation (WRDC) is hiring a Director, Career Development to join their growing team in making a difference.

WRDC helps women throughout Newfoundland and Labrador prepare for and achieve meaningful, positive, long-term careers in trades and technology.

Founded in 1997, the organization offers a variety of programs, consultation services, and training services through funding from both the public and private sectors.

The Educational Resource Centre (ERC), our charitable organization created in 2002, provides hands-on learning and career exploration opportunities for younger women and girls in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).


What you will be doing
Our Manager of Finance will pride themselves on their professionalism and appreciate the importance of confidentiality and discretion.

In addition, the individual will be an effective leader who is comfortable supervising a team including delegation, performance, and oversight of employees.

In addition to the above, the responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

  • Manage accounting systems, financial reporting, fiscal and project budgets, and controls systems
  • Ensure that all accounting complies with General Accepted Accounting Principles requirements and WRDC and associated project policies.
  • Oversee all accounting and bookkeeping functions including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, banking and visa, payroll, and benefits administration
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual and ad hoc financial reports to CEO & Board of Directors in an accurate and timely manner
  • Ensure all required reporting is completed within required time frames with high quality and accuracy
  • Support in the preparation of annual external audit processes
  • Maintain statutory and bestpractice processes relevant to an incorporated nonprofit and charitable organization
  • Oversee and implement document control processes and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements

What you will bring


We are looking for someone whose background in finance and accounting will complement our team and is passionate about the advancement of women in trades and technology.

You will be an excellent communicator and with great interpersonal skills.

Our Manager of Finance will have a high regard for quality, accuracy, and attention to detail and will be able to organize, prioritize and problem-solve in dynamic, fast-paced situations.

In addition to the above noted skills and abilities, our Manager of Finance will bring the following qualifications and attributes to the team:

  • University Degree or College Diploma in a related discipline (such as Business, Finance, Accounting) with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated success in financial management and the implementation of best practices relating to processes and procedures, accounting and financial reporting, and payroll and benefits administration
  • Experience managing or supervising a team is considered an asset
  • Strong computer proficiency in variety of office and accounting software including QBO, MS Suite, and other database software
  • Highly selfmotivated and independent, able to work with mínimal supervision
  • Comfortable working with internal and external stakeholders, such as highlevel sponsors and corporate partners with the highest level of professionalism
  • Occupational Health & Safety training and/or certification would be an asset
  • Financial experience with a nonprofit and/or charitable organization would be an asset
  • Code of conduct required annually
