Slingshot Transportation Inc. is expanding again We have an exciting new opportunity for a Dispatcher to join our operations in Milton
Salary:
$55,000-$65,000 annual
Shift:
Monday to Friday and every fourth weekend.
Start time between 06:00-09:00 am
Specific job functions will include but not limited to:
Dispatch
Clear Communication with drivers, staff and customers to ensure on time performance by:
- Provide continuous monitoring of all Drivers on duty
- Always maintain professional, positive, caring, and supportive communications with Drivers
- Develop routing and maintain contact with Drivers throughout the day
- Collaborate with Dispatch Team to modify daily routes to accommodate the need of customers.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with Drivers and Customers
- Monitor any sudden route changes, weather delays or road construction issues and work with Drivers to establish alternative routes to maintain ontime performance.
- Manage hourbyhour, daybyday dispatch of domestic and crossborder shipments
- Effectively plan and prioritize all loads making best use of equipment and drivers while meeting service requirements.
- Build and maintain a positive work environment where team members and their contributions are recognized and valued.
- Communicate all relevant details of driving assignments to Drivers to ensure proper execution.
- Liaise with Clients; receive and confirm details of orders, maintain effective proactive client communications as needed.
- Use and support Keep Truckin; reports, KPI's and incentive programs
- Arrange appointments and scheduling
Maintain organized and accurate records by:
- Enter, manage, and dispatch all orders within operations software
- Ensure profit margins on all loads
- Liaise with Drivers and Equipment to arrange for maintenance, spare vehicles and ensure repairs are completed to vehicles.
- Notify authorities and complete appropriate internal reporting for vehicle accidents
- Monitor the location of vehicles in yards
- Verify the departure and return of drivers and vehicles
Other Duties:
- Performing other duties as assigned from time to time by Sr. Dispatch Manager or other Managers/Supervisors
- Follow and enforce all policies and procedures including progressive discipline for Drivers as required.
- Contribute to improvements i.e. processes, procedures, and policies.
- Contribute to the implementation of rates
- Perform daily supervision of the yard, the Yard Supervisors, FTP Coordinators, Shunters, Gate Keepers, Hadfield Coordinators, Walmart Liaisons etc.
- Support training of staff as required
Qualifications:
Knowledge:
- Working knowledge in the Transportation Industry
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and 36
- Knowledge of North American geography
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to work in a team environment in high pressure situations.
- Strong written and oral communication skills are essential
- Ability to listen, speak and communicate effectively, often in some state of distress.
- High degree of proficiency with MS Excel and MS Word.
- Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal and problemsolving skills
- Ability to work in a fastpaced and deadlineoriented environment.
- Strong organizational skills including the ability to multitask effectively
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years experience within an asset dispatch environment
- Professional attitude, punctual, assertive, and personable with strong attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality
- Focused on meeting commitments and customer satisfaction
- A proven track record of excellent communication skills with customers and drivers
- Passion for being a leader and involved in the business
- Working knowledge of reefer and dry equipment
- Ability to listen, speak and communicate effectively, often in some state of distress.
