Why is this role important?

  • The Coop Student will support the Pharmaceuticals department, which includes the National Prescription Drug Utilization Information System (NPDUIS) and the National System for Incident Reporting (NSIR).
  • NPDUIS contains panCanadian prescription claimslevel data, as well as supporting information for additional context, such as formulary and drug product information and information on policies of public drug plans in Canada.
  • NSIR collects medication and radiation treatment incidents voluntarily reported from participating facilities across Canada.
  • Activities will include researching information to support analysis for CIHI reports and data requests, communicating with internal and external stakeholders and supporting data quality activities. This person may also be involved with other departmental initiatives during the work term.
What you'll do

  • Participate in the development and review of Pharmaceuticals products, including user documentation.
  • Support the team with data quality work, ensuring that the quality of information in our data holdings is suited to its intended uses and that data users are provided with accurate information about data quality.
  • Data verification and formatting of formulary information (information on which drugs are included in public drug programs in Canada and how they are covered).
  • Support other activities for the Pharmaceuticals department as required.
What you'll bring to the table

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of prescription drug coverage in Canada an asset
  • Research experience (literature reviews, web searches, etc.)
  • Ability to work as part of a team with mínimal supervision
