We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Payroll Team Lead, Buy-Low Foods to join our People team in Langley, BC.
Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, Buy-Low Foods you will be responsible for overseeing and supporting the daily operations of the Buy-Low Foods payroll team by leading and coaching the payroll teams in the processing of complex bi-weekly payrolls in a high volume payroll department.
You will be responsible for:
- Overseeing administration of biweekly payroll for approximately 3000 team members, including hourly, and salary in both a union and nonunion workforce.
- Providing leadership, support, and training for the payroll department.
- Ensuring compliance of all employment legislation and regulatory guidelines, including company policy.
- Reviewing, reconciling and ensuring accuracy of approved timecards.
- Auditing, validating and balancing payroll to ensure accuracy of data.
- Validating and entering employee data changes including hires, employment changes, terminations, and intercompany transfers.
- Processing employee terminations, entering termination in payroll system and processing final pay.
- Answering payroll related inquiries from team members and management.
- Contributing to the development and documentation of efficient payroll processes including maintaining detailed records.
- Participating in yearend process related to payroll and T4 preparation.
- Reviewing and preparing payment information for various annual payouts.
- Performing other payroll or HR duties as required.
You have:
- Experience working with Avanti. (Experience with Workday is an asset years of relevant experience or relevant education in Accounting or Business, or combination of both.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a supervisory role within an accounting or payroll department.
- Experience working with various payroll systems and the ability to utilize MS Excel effectively.
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation.
- An understanding of Employment Standards and collective agreements.
- Previous experience with retail or store level payroll is considered an asset.
