Position Purpose:


The Business Relationship Partner (BRP) role is the strategic interface with assigned business units, acting as a trusted IT advisor.

The BRP's primary focus is establishing and maintaining value-driven, strategic relationships with one or more business units and proactively managing business demands.

The IT BRP provides technology guidance, standards, best practices, and the aptitude to optimize organizational factors, such as brand, innovation, and human experience, to amplify fit-for-purpose impact when working with business stakeholders.


Responsibilities:

***- As a Business Relationship Partner, proactively understand business requirements, plans, objectives, and strategies with a lens on IT products and services to fulfill those needs

  • Understands and promotes IT roles, processes, and activities to the business, as well as acts as a chief marketer and communicator of IT services and capabilities
  • Facilitates the planning and execution of business changes using technology and proper change management methodologies
  • Identifies, manages, and resolves issues reported by business units as needed in collaboration with the broader IT team
  • Leads/supports highly complex projects that require indepth knowledge across multiple specialized IT domains.
  • Assists in developing and communicating IT standards, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Participates on teams in the development of IT technology strategy and operational plans.
  • Liaise with business units to be the single point of contact between the business and IT.
  • Provide IT leadership with business initiative information to ensure business requirements and IT resources are planned and allocated.
  • Researches and identifies emerging technologies, industry, and market trends that can add value to the business stakeholders.
  • Provides project consultation services to IT management and business units through a project lifecycle.
  • Provides technical expertise in the planning, design and implementation of IT projects and key initiatives.
  • Identifies opportunities to streamline or automate IT and business processes to continuously improve systems and services delivery as business requirements dictate.
  • Partners with colleagues and drives efforts to research, analyze, determine capabilities, and propose solution alternatives to address business needs and strategies
  • Design presentations for business unit stakeholders outlining IT's goals and visions to assist in driving their objectives
  • Consult with business units and review IT usage, services, technology, and department specific projects to identify, forecast, and develop IT needs.
  • Ensures compliance to legislative, regulatory, and Health & Safety policies, procedures, and standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Specialized Knowledge:

***- Bachelor's degree or college diploma in computer science, information systems, computer engineering, system analysis, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

  • Working knowledge of the utility industry, major business processes and key performance indicators
  • A people driven approach to all technology solutions aligned with Business Relationship framework.
  • Advanced knowledge of and exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience working with IT infrastructure, networks, and systems
  • Solid understanding of current and planned architecture, platforms and solutions that support the business
  • Broad understanding of the current and emerging technology trends and developments
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as an ability to communicate effectively with various levels of staff
  • Solid planning, financial and performance management skills
  • Knowledge of the TOGAF/or equivalent framework standard for Enterprise IT Architecture

Experience:

***- 5 or more years of IT work experience including IT business work experience with a broad range of exposure to various technical environments and business segments

  • 5 years' IT business relationship management experience
  • Extensive experience in strategic planning, business development or client management
