The Ministry Human Resources Branch (MHR) supports the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) with human resources and organizational development initiatives, programs and services related to workforce planning, engagement, leadership development, recruitment and retention, corporate HR priorities, occupational health and safety, Indigenous strategic human resources, cultural safety, equity diversity & inclusion, corporate learning and development, and strategic HR consulting.

The Ministry HR team focuses on the needs of the ministry to ensure it has the people and skills it needs to provide exceptional services to the children, youth, and families of British Columbia, now and into the future.


The Hiring Services team is looking for HR Planners with experience in recruitment and outreach initiatives to support recruitment for the ministry.


Reporting to an HR Consultant, the HR Planner uses their hiring expertise to attract and hire a culturally inclusive, safe, and agile workforce to support the ministry's objectives.

This role will support full-cycle recruitment for the ministry's workforce plan, operational and service delivery needs, and for large-scale transformation initiatives.

In addition to this, this position will do research, analysis, and reporting related to recruitment.


Job Requirements:


  • Postsecondary degree in a related field such as human resources, public administration, business administration OR an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum six (6) months of experience working on all phases of the recruitment life cycle (e.g., sourcing, job profile writing, posting and marketing, screening, assessments, interviewing, and other duties related to hiring).
  • Minimum six (6) months of experience providing advice and expertise on HR matters to management in a clientcentered model.
  • Minimum six (6) months of experience in research, analysis and report writing.
  • Minimum six (6) months of experience managing and tracking information in Microsoft Excel.
Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following:

  • Experience with recruitment marketing and outreach initiatives and/or projects.
  • Experience with the BC Public Service Recruitment process.
  • Applicants who selfidentify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, Inuit), Black, or Person of Color (IBPOC), or a member of the 2SLGBTQQIA+ community with the required combination of education and experience.

Willingness statement:

  • Occasional travel may be required (e.g., training, meetings).
