Our Team:

The Shaft Planner at Creighton is an integral part of Vale's long-term operating strategy.

As part of the Creighton Team, you will be supporting the shaft Department in planning all work required to keep the plant running efficiently.

Working closely with Maintenance Supervisors, as well as other operating departments, in planning all inspections and repair work to mínimally impact the plant's production.


The Opportunity:

We are currently seeking a
Supervisor, Shaft Planner to join our Creighton Shaft/Logistics team in
Sudbury, Ontario . This is a
permanent position.


As a
Supervisor, Shaft Planner , you will be helping to facilitate the continuous improvement of the #9 Shaft maintenance crew's performance, through the effective use of established processes and procedures.

You will be accountable for the planning of work for Creighton Mine #9 shat Maintenance and may be required to provide relief supervision as needed.


Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Review and communicate Risk Management situations with crew members at line-up and field discussions. Follow notification protocols for incidents and initiate on-shift investigations.
  • Control inventories of consumables and supplies, and order materials to achieve production and/or maintenance schedules.
  • Coordinate and facilitate with the Scheduler to ensure all required planning/scheduling routines are followed.
  • Identify and escalate all critical issues that threaten the successful execution of the "work schedule" for completion by Required End Date.
  • Manage backlog to ensure work orders are planned with an emphasis on safety and ready to be executed prior to the required end date as determined through the notification. Ensure WO user statuses are properly maintained throughout the lifecycle of the work order. Ensure planned work orders are closed with proper time confirmations completed.
  • Establish and maintain work relationships with the various key plant stakeholders including superintendents, supervisors, other schedulers, planners, crew members, etc.
**About You


Education:


  • Grade 12 level education or GED equivalency is required.
  • College diploma or university degree in a related industrial field or a university degree in a related engineering discipline is preferred.
  • Common Core: First Line Underground Mine Supervisor Common Core or Common Core for First Line Production Supervisor Underground Hard Rock Mining is preferred.

Experience:


  • Minimum 2 years of experience working within SAP and the Prometheus addon as a Planner and Scheduler preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience leading crews preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a shaft environment preferred.

Skills:


  • Experience with Microsoft Office Products.
  • Must demonstrate open and transparent dialogue in all aspects of work.
  • Must be obsessed with safety and risk.
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work with mínimal supervision and work well with others in a team environment.
  • Qualified/experienced shaft worker preferred.
