Position Description:


he General Internal Medicine Program is comprised of multiple highly-rated Clinical Teaching Units (CTUs) focusing on acute medical care and geriatric assessment.

The Program provides primary, secondary, and tertiary care to a diverse patient mix embracing all age categories, socioeconomic backgrounds, ethnicities and education levels.

The patient population served by the General Internal Medicine interdisciplinary team includes patients with undifferentiated medical illnesses, multiple co-morbidities requiring expertise outside the scope of a single primary care physician, specialist or sub-specialist that can be acute or chronic in nature.

Our skilled and dedicated interdisciplinary health professional team work collaboratively to provide high quality, safe, ethical and effective care to the patients and families we serve.

***: Reporting to the Clinical Director and Medical Leads for the General Internal Medicine Program, the Nurse Manager is responsible for the coordination and provision of clinical care, human resources and fiscal operation of the Clinical Teaching Unit 5 Mary Grace. The Clinical Manager is a member of the management team and collaborates with the Clinical Director, Medical Director, Educator and other allied health members to ensure that quality patient care delivery following best practice guidelines, and effective and efficient services are provided. The Clinical Manager is collaboratively accountable for planning, implementing, coordinating and integrating plans and evaluating quality, risk and operating efficiency that are in alignment with the departmental vision and within the Mission, Vision and Philosophy of SJHH. The Clinical Manager is responsible to ensure staff within the clinical area effectively operate within their professional scope of practice as defined by their regulatory body, the College of Nurses of Ontario, within the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, and within the St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton policies.


QUALIFICATIONS:

‐Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or other health related discipline required
‐Master's Degree health related discipline preferred
‐Member in good standing with the Regulated Health Professional College and Provincial Professional Association
‐Minimum three years of recent successful clinical and management leadership, with experience in Medicine preferred
‐Demonstrated evidence of leadership ability with demonstrated skill in effectively leading change and innovation required.
‐Demonstrated ability to use data to analyze program performance and identify opportunities and plans for quality improvement required.
‐Demonstrated ability to facilitate the successful achievement of outcomes required.
‐Demonstrated effective critical thinking, problem‐solving, and creation of innovative solutions required.
‐Demonstrated understanding of applicable legislation required.
‐Demonstrated commitment to a patient and customer focused philosophy in all interactions required.
‐Demonstrated excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills required.
‐Demonstrated excellent team building skills, which include working with other teams outside immediate program required.
‐Demonstrated excellent conflict resolution, crisis intervention, and ability to resolve emotional situations required.
‐Demonstrated experience managing fiscal resources responsibly within an allocated budget required.
‐Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, including business case development, report writing, and presentations required.
‐Demonstrated ability to work effectively and prioritize appropriately within a fast‐paced environment required.
