Job Summary


Job Description:

For the summer of 2024 we will be hiring summer students in the following areas;


TISSUE BANK

The applicant will support the operation of a national cooperative oncology tissue bank with international scope for a multicentre clinical trials group.

Responsibilities include the organization, receipt, logging, storage, and distribution of biospecimens collected for national and international trials.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Post secondary school student enrolled in a Life Sciences / Bachelor of Science discipline.
  • Some research or laboratory experience considered an asset but not required.

ADMINISTRATION

The applicant will support day to day administrative duties of a national cooperative oncology group with international scope within the operations team.

This will include supporting network activities on-site, greeting, and redirecting callers or visitors, processing of information via word and excel, supporting activities and events within the facility, and other common administrative tasks.

The applicant will obtain, process, store, retrieve and relay information, usually using a computer system.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Post secondary school student.
  • Some administration or network experience considered an asset but not required.

COMMUNICATIONS

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Post secondary school student enrolled in communications and/or marketing program.
  • Interest or experience in video, design, and graphics production.
  • An understanding of social media platforms specifically: YouTube, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, Facebook, Threads, and Instagram.
  • General understanding of or interest in website posting stories and editing content in a Drupal (CMS) environment.
  • Working knowledge or interest in Adobe creative suite

SPECIAL SKILLS:


  • Attention to detail and accuracy; thorough when performing tasks and conscientious about attending to details.
  • Excellent time management and highly effective organizational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize effectively to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a teambased structure.
  • Highly proficient in the use of Microscoft Word and Excel.

DECISION MAKING:


  • Understand priorities of various tasks and schedule time to meet conflicting deadlines.
  • Identify and bring forward issues that arise through meetings or daily interactions that need resolution or clarification by more senior staff.
