Working for The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering


The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department has over 60 faculty members with expertise in the areas of Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, and Intelligent Systems.

The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department welcomes creativity, diversity, perseverance, and a collaborative spirit and recognizes the importance of excellence in conjunction with work/life balance, interdisciplinary research, and mentorship.

The Department is developing a new undergraduate mechatronics program in collaboration with the Department of Mechanical Engineering that is under governance review and aims to be launched in about one year.


Working as an Editorial Assistant


The Editorial Assistant provides administrative and peer review support in the receipt, database management, review, and timely publication of journal manuscripts under the IEEE Power Electronics Society.

This position also includes communications and proofreading support of Research group at the University of Alberta.


Duties

  • Journal (IEEE) related duties
  • Provide clerical assistance to support the Publication team's activities.
  • Track the progress of reviews and work with EIC to ensure timely completion by reviewers, associate editors, and authors.
  • Provide enduser support for the creation and submission of electronic files
  • Identify problems and provide suggested solutions
  • Monitor enduser queries to identify opportunities for improvement in functionality and/or performance of support tools and systems

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree is required.
  • Experience in working with engineering research articles is required.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in working with publisher's manuscript systems and workflow is required.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • A keen eye for detail
