    Senior Architectural Technologist

    About the Position:

    The Senior Architectural Technologist plays a key role in the drafting & design team, focusing on creating Computer-Assisted Design (CAD) construction drawings to meet the Alberta Building Code and municipal bylaws. They serve as a representative for the drafting department in various scenarios.

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Development of architectural designs
    • Training and supervision within the department
    • Addressing inquiries from trades, customers & municipalities
    • Analysis of building codes, by-laws, space requirements, and technical documents
    • Preparation of CAD drawings
    • Creation of architectural and virtual models
    • Collaboration on planning applications and regulatory procedures
    • Assessment of required surveys
    • Project brief preparation
    • Design proposal presentation
    • Coordination of design information
    • Liaising with relevant authorities
    • Specifications analysis and advice on materials and processes
    • Supervision of trainee technologists
    • Project management and tender evaluation
    Skills and Qualifications:
    • Post-secondary diploma in Architectural Technology or related field
    • Minimum seven (7) years of Single Family Residential Construction drafting experience
    • Proficiency in SoftPlan or AutoCAD
    • Strong ability in creating architectural drawings and construction details
    • Previous experience with a model home builder is advantageous
    • Knowledge of permit applications and city approval process
    • Familiarity with Alberta Building Code and Bylaw requirements
    • Understanding of truss, joist layouts, and engineering details
    • Knowledge of current Fire Safety construction requirements in Edmonton and surroundings
    • Valid class five (5) driver's license and reliable transportation
    • Required Criminal Records Check
    • Manual dexterity and accurate data entry skills
