EveryMind (formerly Peel Children's Centre) is looking for a committed and passionate
Child & Youth Worker with experience in mental health to provide support services to children and youth in a day treatment classroom environment.

Our Day Treatment Program provides a safe, accepting, supportive, treatment-focused classroom environment for children and youth experiencing serious emotional, behavioral, or relationship difficulties in their school, and often their home and community
.


EveryMind is an accredited children's mental health centre that provides a continuum of high quality mental health services for children, youth and their families who are experiencing social, emotional and/or behavioral challenges.


Hiring Salary range - $55,594- $65,037 over 5 years
Please note that hiring salaries are commensurate with experience and generally start at the beginning of the range.

Responsibilities:


The incumbent will:

  • Respond to and support client's unique mental health needs, within a therapeutic environment, in the context of a multidisciplinary treatment plan and an integrated school setting
  • Ensures the safety and wellbeing of all clients within a day treatment setting by adhering to EveryMind policies and procedures as well as relevant legislation
  • Assess, manage, design, and implement a crisis plan to ensure safety within the milieu setting
  • Develop and implement treatment and social skills groups in support of the treatment needs of the individual clients
  • Function as a case manager as assigned through liaison with, and advice from the Child and Family Counsellor, providing resources as required
  • Collaborate with the classroom teacher in the development and maintenance of an effective therapeutic environment conducive to the client's needs
  • Provide supervision to students and volunteers within the day treatment setting
  • Counsel clients individually, in groups, and with caregivers, to meet treatment goals by assisting the client to refocus, redirect and use coping strategies
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with members of the multidisciplinary team and the host school/school board
  • Complete clinical reports as required, documenting client's progress
  • Ensure the availability of required information on all clients by maintaining all records and data required in a timely and comprehensive manner
  • Plan and participate in activities for clients and be available to work unconventional hours as necessary
  • Manage a program budget for supplies with direction from supervisor
  • Have an interest in ongoing professional development in order to stay current with client needs
  • Maintain current training and implementation of first aid, medications and physical intervention techniques as required
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to client needs through a strength based approach
  • Transport clients as required

Skills and Qualifications:


  • Child & Youth Worker diploma with a minimum of three years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Registration with the Ontario College of Child and Youth Care or eligibility for the same;
  • Thorough knowledge of children's mental health and the ability to work from a traumainformed, attachmentbased lens, with children and youth.
  • Strong Oral and written communication skills, time management and critical thinking skills with a strong understanding of role boundaries
  • Embraces diversity and demonstrated cultural awaren
