Job Information and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Manager, University Security, the Security Officer will:
- Respond to emergency calls,
- Patrol the campus to protect the people and assets and provides parking enforcement.
- Provide Security dispatch services on a backup emergency basis.
- Enforces University policies and Provincial Laws governing the Protection of Property Act.
- Provide training for new security personnel and contract officers.
- Work collaboratively with other Facilities Management employees to ensure the timely, accurate and effective delivery of services.
- Provides emergency First Aid as needed.
Experience and Education Requirements
To be the successful Security Officer you will have:
- High School Graduation.
- Certificate from a Recognized Canadian Security Program or acceptable combination of training, education and/or experience.
- CPR, Emergency First Aid.
- Two years' experience in security.
- Working knowledge of computers.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a positive manner conveying and responding to information.
- Ability to interact with customers in a positive working relationship.
- Ability to work alone and complete tasks with mínimal supervision.
- Ability to take initiative in completing tasks with mínimal instruction.
- Ability to perform duties in a safe manner, following health and safety legislation and all required safe work practices and procedures, in order to minimize the risk of injury and property damage.
