Your opportunity:
Working with a dynamic team and under the general direction of the Senior Manager, Community, Global and Intercultural Experience, you will be dedicated to the enrichment of the co-curricular life of the campus, focused on supporting UTSC engage in Global Learning opportunities.
As the Global Mobility Coordinator, you will act as the main point of contact for all inbound and outbound exchange and study abroad students from UTSC campus and will coordinate and implement mobility promotions, operations and activities.
Your role will develop, coordinate and evaluate intercultural programming before, during and after learning opportunities and support faculty-led programming, with an emphasis on student development and equity.
This will involve fostering an open and inclusive world view environment; planning and implementing workshops & programming and preparing detailed analysis of risk factors to inform planning decisions for international travel.
You will also be the on-site lead or support for events and workshop delivery, recruiting and training work-study students and facilitating exchange partner delegation visits to campus.
Your work will involve extensive partnerships building communication, and working closely with the other positions within the Office of Student Experience and Wellbeing, as well as other campus partners such as academic departments and the various Co-op programs, St.
George's Centre for International Experience and UTM's International Education Centre, the Office of the Vice-President, International, as well as staff international exchange partner universities.
Your work will be informed by relevant research, anti-oppression and intercultural theory, and will consult with a broad range of student groups and student services.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and implementing components of curricular and/or cocurricular programs and activities
- Developing student assessment plans to support student learning outcomes and competencies
- Conducting detailed analysis on program efficiency and student learning outcomes to inform program planning activities
- Analyzing potential placement opportunities to determine suitability with student academic learning objectives
- Advising students on cocurricular, academic and personal matters by providing options and consequences incorporating personal circumstances impacting academic success and an understanding of an individual's background
- Preparing detailed analysis of risk factors to inform planning decisions for international travel
- Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
- Facilitating educational workshops and seminars
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum four (4) years related experience in student development/international student advising at the postsecondary level with direct experience managing and utilizing assessment tools and implementing new international programs
- Knowledge of postsecondary academic and administrative structures, policies and procedures
- Working knowledge of educational systems outside of North America such as Japan, China, Australia and Europe
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and comfortable with presenting to groups
- Solid interpersonal, intercultural and customer service skills, including the ability to deal with sensitive and confidential matters
