$ 96,785 to $120,979

Location: 7120 Hurontario Street, Mississauga ON

Hours of work: 35 Hours per week

In this role you will Supervise a team including Maintenance Specialists, Maintenance Person, Specialists Fire and Life Safety, Coordinators and Students


What you will do in this role:

  • Lead a multidisciplinary team by coaching, motivating, developing job objectives, disciplining, managing performance, assessing and delegating work, encouraging professional development, and ensuring quality and service standards and regulatory compliance are met.
  • Monitor and analyze outcomes and use key performance indicators/measures to ensure Business Unit objectives are met.
  • Support the development of Capital Plans and ensure capital works and are coordinated into the capital plan to address longterm needs of the organization in a costeffective manner.
  • Lead preventative maintenance work for the portfolio. Develop and implement work plans, business processes, budgets and staffing levels for the Technical Supports unit.
  • Review and approve Maintenance plans developed by reporting staff or external contractors and monitor their implementation.
  • Coordinate specified major capital works in collaboration with Technical Support Staff, Real Property Asset Management staff, and/or outside contractors.
  • Lead and support minor repairs or major maintenance project work from time to time due to unplanned equipment or system failures
  • Create and update the preventative maintenance schedule including activities and work plans to be undertaken, value provided to the organization, and related costs of initiatives/projects; presents preventative maintenance schedules to Housing Operations and Tenancy Management team for approval.
  • Identify resource requirements to meet longterm operational commitments and to ensure financial soundness and economic viability of programs/services.
  • Act as a primary developer and publisher of standards and benchmarks for Residential Property Management as it relates to preventative maintenance.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders (vendors and sector organizations such as OMSSA, ONPHA, SHSC, etc) in the delivery of preventative maintenance and fire safety services; include other departments that provide a range of services to Region of Peel buildings, Peel Living and other client providers.
  • Handle issues of vendor nonperformance regarding contract violations; implements corrective measures and coordinates communications both internally and externally.
  • Assist in the operational takeover and commissioning of new buildings where applicable.
  • Ensure the scope of work for all building systems preventative maintenance and other Service Contract documents are developed in collaboration with Procurement Team in a professional manner.
  • Ensure contracts are managed effectively and within scope and budget, with no interruption to the services.

What the role requires:


  • Post secondary degree in an Engineering, Business Administration or Contract Management with at least five years of preventative maintenance and building systems work related experience
  • At least three years of leadership and/or supervisory experience (preferably in a unionized environment).
  • Indepth knowledge of building condition assessment practices as well as expert knowledge of Architectural, Structural, Mechanical and Electrical Systems and building envelope, knowledge of their interaction, life cycle and performance indicators.
  • Knowledge of Peel Housing Corporation and Human Services programs as well as an understanding of customer service requirements with the ability to foster a holistic approach.
  • Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams in order to conduct day to day business.
  • Proficient use and experience with CMMS and CAMS, AutoCAD
  • Research, analytical and problem solving skills necessary to gather and analyze data.
  • Short and long term planning skills and ability to develop and execute plans
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation including but not limited to: Housing Services Act, Residential Tenancies Act, Tenant Protection Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Employee Standards Act, Technical Standards and Safety Authority, Ontario
