Description

The City of Edmonton selected Marigold Infrastructure Partners to design and build the 14-kilometre Valley Line West LRT project from downtown to Lewis Farms.

Construction has begun and will take five to six years to complete.

Marigold is a design-build joint venture agreement between Colas and Parsons.


The Civil / Utilities Project Coordinator performs a wide range of tasks, assisting the office and site operations and management staff in the implementation of project agreements and plans, ensuring completion on time and within budget for the facilities and stations along the 14km project alignment.


Responsibilities:


  • Promote a safety culture ensuring compliance with legislated safety and environmental requirements and best practices by adhering to the project's OH&S management system
  • Assist with overall project performance including costs, schedule, and quality
  • Assist in planning, preparing and updating work schedules, resource planning, and monitoring construction activities including supervision of subcontractors
  • Create and/ or maintain project management plans, Scope of Work, specifications, and cost estimates, subcontracts and reports and ensure latest issues are distributed as required, in a timely manner
  • Assist in analysis of project milestones and financial deadlines, and their impact on the project schedule's critical path
  • Inspect the site regularly to ensure Safety, Quality, and Environmental concerns are noted and that Construction Schedule concerns are addressed early
  • Assist in the development and administration of the subcontractor agreement and manage subcontract changes as required
  • Lead the change order process, analyze changes to drawings, assessing cost and schedule impacts, and assist with resulting contract negotiations, including pricing, negotiating, and processing of the change orders
  • Advise on invoice and progress claims and assemble progress payment certificates, final payment certificates and extra work orders
  • Maintain plans, specifications, and cost estimates, subcontracts and reports and ensure latest issues are distributed as required
  • Ensure that equipment, resources and information are gathered before work begins in assigned area and arrive on time and as needed
  • Plan and attend meetings with relevant stakeholders with a frequency that allows all parties to be up to date and informed of changes, schedules, setbacks or concerns and communicate and appropriately document solutions with each other
  • Provides input and insight to Management as required in the development of the Construction Schedule, procurement of materials, staffing requirements, etc
  • Ensures that any changes to proposed plans are preapproved and communicated with relevant stakeholders (i.e. Engineers of Record, Superintendents, Segment Manager, Subcontractors) before they are begun infield. Identify and propose solutions to nonconformances as required
  • Provide response to site queries as they arise, document any concerns and propose solutions as necessary
  • Ensure all required permits are in place and valid, requested in a timely manner and accurate to the work being performed
  • Provide input to risk management and risk assessment exercises
  • Perform calculations for safe and sound work practices before work begins
  • Ensure project cost requirements are met and coding procedures are followed
  • Oversee project closeout by ensuring the preparation of warranty package, turnover document creation and site demobilization
  • Maintain and promote excellent relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and the public
  • Ensure adherence to quality assurance and quality control activities on the project site in line with the contract requirements
  • Delegate responsibilities to & supervise field coordinators
  • Other duties that may be assigned by the Site Manager or Segment Manager

Work conditions:


  • Site officebased position
  • Willingness to work occasional weekends and evening shifts as project schedule demands
  • Must be able to negotiate terrain on inprocess builds and be flexible to spend time outdoors, in noisy environments, and busy offices with frequent interruptions

Requirements:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Construction Management, or related fields OR trade certificate with equivalent related experience
  • 3+ years related work experience in the construction of projects over $15M
  • Experience in large utilities projects within the province of Alberta an asset
  • Light Industrial, Industrial or Transportation Facilities or Infrastructure experience considered an asset.
  • Experience in LEED certified building projects and LEED GP or AP certification a definite plus.
  • PMP, CET, P.Eng., or other credentials considered an asset
  • Knowledge of ISO quality standards an asset
  • Excellent English language written and verbal communications skills are essential
