He/She is responsible for predominantly leading a group of Carrier Planners to execute the various DS programs.

The primary responsibility of the role is to ensure that product shipping through any of the Direct Ship channels arrives at our Associate Stores on time, in accordance with established service level goals and at the best/lowest cost.

With growing volume flowing through the Direct Ship channel, key accountabilities will include the engagement, development and management of several third party facilities to effect product flow and the management of vendor direct product flow to stores.


In addition to leading the team, this individual will be responsible for the execution and delivery of process improvement initiatives within the team.

These initiatives will contribute to improved service, reduced costs and increased productivity. Throughout all of this, the individual must demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.


What You'll do

  • Manage and lead a group of carrier planners
  • Manage each DS program by creating high level plans and ensuring carrier capacity
  • Support the management and timely execution of Transportation solutions for the DS and EAP network,
  • Manage small to large projects
  • Collaboratively engage, develop, and maintain relations with key 3rd party service providers
  • Develop relationships with carriers to ensure that they understand CTR's Standard Operating Procedures for CT Direct Ship, Marks & FGL in order to achieve on time and accurate shipping
  • Act as key point of contact for supply chain groups and external parties in relation to Direct Ship operations
  • Provide creative and practical solutions to every day operational and business issues that are satisfactory to our partners and our customers
  • Facilitate cross functional discussions and workgroups including Transportation, Capacity, Production and Daily Planning, Associate Stores, and other Supply Chain groups in the delivery of process execution that optimizes performance, cost, sustainability and reliability for the network
  • Utilizing influential authority with all teams and resources
  • Provide direction to the team on priorities, scope of work and required timelines
  • Assist in the development of in house tools/EUCs to support Team initiatives
  • Participate in initiatives that contribute to the development of new tranportation strategies and coordinate and support their rollout
  • Promote constant communication and lead process reviews and improvement initiatives in order to build a credible roadmap.
  • Work with other peers and Managers on resource acquisition, and resource assignment, development and performance review, leveraging synergies across the teams

What you bring

  • Post-Secondary Education in Engineering, Business Administration or supply chain management
  • Work experience of 5 or more years in a Supply Chain environment
  • Manage a group of small or large team
  • Exceptional analytical, problem solving, planning and organizational skills
  • Leadership experience
  • Transportation experience is preferred
  • Ability to manage changing/conflicting priorities and make effective decisions quickly
  • Ability to create and stimulate an effective team environment
  • Ability to prioritize work, multitask and meet tight deadlines
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral in formal and informal settings), for both internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficient PC skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point and MS Access)
  • Thorough understanding of the principles of Logistics, Distribution and Transportation
