Posting Title- FO 18R - Regional Financial Analyst- Position Classification- Financial Officer R18- Union- GEU- Location- Surrey, BC V4P 1M5 CA (Primary)- Salary Range- $58, $66,096.20 annually- Close Date- 1/11/2023- Job Type- Regular Full Time- Temporary End Date- Ministry/Organization- BC Public Service -> Public Safety & Sol General- Ministry Branch / Division- Emergency Management BC- Job SummaryEmergency Management and Climate Readiness (EMCR) is the lead coordinating Ministry in the provincial government for all emergency management activities.

As such, EMCR's mission is to be responsible to British Columbians for leading the management of provincial level emergencies and disasters and supporting other authorities within their areas of jurisdiction.


EMCR provides leadership to minimize loss of life and reduce suffering, protect public health, infrastructure, property and the environment, and reduce economic and social impacts to the province from emergencies and disasters such as floods, interface fires, earthquakes, landslides and severe storms.

EMCR works directly with local authorities, First Nations communities, provincial ministries and agencies, federal departments, other jurisdictions, industry, support organizations and volunteers in prevention, preparedness, response and recovery.

EMCR administers the Emergency Program Act and Regulations, the Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) Agreement and manages the five Public Safety Lifeline Volunteer Service Programs.


The
Regional Financial Analyst provides financial support to EMBC regional offices and ministry partners; develops, implements and maintains ministry specific account processing procedures; ensures the integrity and maintenance of related financial records and supports the budgeting and forecasting function for response and recovery activities.


Job Requirements:


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Diploma in business administration, public administration, or finance, and a minimum of two (2) years related experience; an equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Related experience must include:


  • Two years experience working with financial accounting systems, procedures and internal controls
  • Two years experience interpreting and providing advice on financial policies/procedures
  • Two years experience implementing and maintaining financial processes/procedures
  • Two years experience tracking, analyzing and reporting financial forecasts.

Preference may be given for:


  • 1 year or more supervisory work experience including assignment of work, development and evaluation of performance.
  • Work oncall and extended hours during emergencies and disasters.
  • Travel to other regions.
