Description
The General Manager, Infrastructure has overall responsibility for managing construction and operations support teams within the larger Infrastructure team. The focus is on high level strategic issues developing and implementing initiatives with a pulse on overall market direction.

Responsible for the ongoing development of best practices, implementation of corporate initiatives, leadership development, driving operations and production, fostering innovation and ensuring ongoing success of the full Tomlinson Group of Companies.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Providing ongoing development and growth opportunities for direct and indirect reports.
  • Client Relations at the ownership level.
  • Work on tender negotiations and followup on proposals.
  • Tender markups and final signoff of tender submissions.
  • Tracks work on hand and establish priorities for bidding
  • Assign Construction Managers to winning bids.
  • In consultation with other General Managers, final compensation recommendations
  • Overall oversight to hiring and staffing decisions
  • Lead Succession Planning and staff development initiatives
  • Lead team construction initiatives, innovation projects and Best Practices sessions
  • Develop new business opportunities.
  • Act as a change agent and lead the implementation of changes across the group
  • Participate in corporate initiatives, providing input and assisting with implementation while acting as an ambassador for the company decisions and programs
  • Implement and enhance an ongoing health and safety culture
  • Lead resolution of complex staff and employee relations issues

  • Reviews important correspondence and submissions prior to sending.
  • Focuses on continued personal development.
  • Participates as an active member of industryspecific boards and committees.
  • Relationship management:
  • Develops relationships with new customers.
  • Maintains positive structured and strategic customer relationships with existing customer base.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with key industry leaders.
  • Mentors direct reports to assist in their professional growth and development.
  • Contributes to growing business and revenue opportunities across all lines of business.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • CET, Bachelor of Civil Engineering or an additional 5 years of civil construction experience.
  • 8+ years of demonstrated accountability, effective people management experience, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


  • Working conditions are standard for a construction industry environment and includes an indoor office environment as well as time spent on job sites.
  • Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
  • Requirement to attend industry events after working hours and on weekends.
