JOB DESCRIPTION

Duties:


  • Generation Asset Management develops and manages strategies to ensure we invest the right
amount of money in our generation assets at the right time. With roughly $5B in generating station
capital projects underway and proposed to start over the next 5-years, the investments we initiate
have a significant impact across the business.

Key Accountabilities for a Regional Asset Manager in Generation Asset Management are:

  • Lead cross-business engagement to develop asset management strategies that establish
transparent linkages between BC Hydro's strategic/business plans down to specific generation
asset investments and operations & maintenance plans

  • Develop and maintain capital investment plans and annual project release schedules that are
consistent with system operation objectives and resource availability

  • Represent Integrated Planning as the Initiator on generation capital projects to ensure
successful delivery and alignment with established strategies

  • Communicate complex strategies and plans to multiple user groups within and outside of BC
Hydro- Lead and own Generation Asset Management continuous improvement initiatives to improve

team processes and/or processes/interfaces with other teams across BC Hydro


Qualifications:

***- Minimum of twelve years experience demonstrating increasing responsibility, ownership and
- assets and experience leading, facilitating or justifying business/investment decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal and oral/written communication skills with the ability to communicate at
various levels within the organization- Experience leading/facilitating in cross-disciplinary or cross-business work environments

  • Experience considering risk and uncertainty in business decision making
  • Well developed problem solving and decision making skills
  • Well developed planning and organizational skills

Additional Qualifications:

  • A Degree or Diploma in Engineering is considered an asset but is not a requirement for the
Asset Management Specialist Role.- Generation business experience is desirable

  • Knowledge of asset management practices and standards is desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives would be an asset
  • Experience with financial analysis would be an asset
  • Prior experience working in or with project delivery, engineering or operations would be an asset.

  • A condition of employment for this job is that you maintain the following requirements in good
- standing:


  • Driver's License Type = Class 5
  • Applicants that do not meet the qualifications for a P4 level may be considered at lower level
position commensurate- Work will require limited amounts of travel throughout the BC Hydro system

  • The interview process for this role may require a presentation and/or written assignment
