Job Details

  • The Business Development Manager works in partnership with a Regional Vice President to prospect and maintain business relationships with Brokers/Planners/Financial Advisors within a defined territory.
  • The goal of the position is to increase the market share of TD Mutual Funds within the industry by promoting our products and services to existing clients while soliciting prospective clients. This is a wellpaid position which provides excellent opportunities for growth within TDAM and the larger TD organization and ability to develop sales techniques, relationship management skills and analyze and use capital markets knowledge daily, relaying TDAM's outlook and solutions to a set of sophisticated clientele.
  • Accountabilities:
  • Ensure full knowledge of most current fund and market trends including product/portfolio features, benefits, sales tools/processes, and investment strategies.
  • Build client relationships with prospective, existing and dormant accounts, primarily over the telephone to generate new business through proactive contacts and regular followups.
  • Periodically attend client events/meetings and represent TDAM at conferences.
  • Consistently meet quarterly outbound contact targets, gross/net sales and growth of advisor.
  • Work with entire sales team to deliver strategic activity at all levels at the advisor, segmentation, territory, calendar and events level.
  • Be a solution provider to advisors by asking great questions to uncover a need and then present a compelling product solution
  • Work to diversify sales at the advisor and product level to ensure sustainability of sales momentum
  • Deliver solution information, Portfolio Manager insights, macroeconomic guidance and practice management advice.

Job Requirements

  • Fluent in French is required.


  • Strong Financial acumen

  • Financial designations (CFA, CFP, CIM) and/ or academic background in finance, economics, etc. (undergraduate degree or graduate).
  • Previous experience working with Investment Advisors (Brokers/Planners) and detailed knowledge of their business practices.
  • Genuine interest/curiosity about capital markets and finance, driven to continually selflearn.
  • IFIC Canadian Investment Funds Course and/or CSC.
  • Indepth knowledge of the structure and features of mutual funds and the competitive landscape of the industry. Prior experience in industry an asset.
  • Proven ability to prospect and build relationships.
  • Computer proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
  • Ability to work effectively within a close team environment, excellent attitude and receptivity to coaching.
