Job Summary:
This position is funded through Ontario's Job Creation Partnerships (see more details below). The I.T.

Assistant will report to and work with the Technical Operations Manager to support desktop computing and network operations as well as assisting with the administrative operations of the networks.


The Opportunity:

The I.T Assistant will help coordinate, review and perform repairs and maintenance on various systems. The I.T. Assistant will help develop and maintain technical documentation, user guides, wikis and equipment inventories.

Ideally the Assistant will be able to install and terminate Ethernet cabling and the have ability to troubleshoot existing structured cabling.

Experience with Cisco, MikroTik and Ubiquiti Network (UniFI) gear would be an asset.


Activities include:

  • Provide inhouse I.T Support to Festival Staff; (i.e., internet connections, network connectivity, telephony systems, wireless communications devices, various audio equipment and audio/video conferencing systems) as well as provide input on IT telecom guidelines and policies.
  • Assist in the configuration, testing, staging and storage of festival specific Wi-Fi, VoIP and IP camera equipment.
  • Help develop robust network festival site plan
  • Assist with setting up onsite network administration, deployment, maintenance and of various network components.
  • Work with onsite contractors to manage wireless/wired networks; assist with the I.T. Volunteer Team, liaise with the volunteer team leaders.
  • Will work alongside the festival's onsite IT field team to help design and deploy the mixed wireless and wired network including VoIP Telephones, PointofSale systems, IP Cameras and distributed and mesh Wi-Fi networks
  • Follow through on I.T. wiki development; maintain inventory control of all I.T related equipment and tools.

Skills and Qualifications:


  • Detail orientated with organizational and administrative skills; network troubleshooting skills are required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to prioritize and multitask and meet deadlines in a busy environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal/people skills; ability to work flexible hours.
  • Knowledge of IP Telephony, Networking, IP Cameras and IP Addressing; Linux/Unix, macOS, Windows (installing, configuring, working in a commandline environment); Experience configuring network hardware (Ubiquiti, Cisco, Linksys); Ability to terminate, test and troubleshoot Ethernetbased structured cabling.

Eligible to participate in Ontario's Job Creation Partnership (JCP) program by meeting the following criteria:

  • An unemployed job seeker or those employed less than 20 hours per week.

  • Live in Ontario.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.

Have one, or both, of the following criteria:
a. Previously established an Employment Insurance (EI) benefit claim (regular benefits within the last three years or maternity/parental within the last five years), and/or

b.

Previously employed in Canada in five of any the last ten calendar years while earned a gross income in excess of $2000 in each calendar year.


Remuneration:

$662 (gross) per week provided by the Province of Ontario ($ based on 32 hours per week).


Salary:
$20.69 per hour


Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
