What can I expect to do in this role?: You will:
- provide policy analysis, quantitative research and advice on sales and commodity taxes, including the Harmonized Sales Tax
- participate in the budget process and assess proposals by other jurisdictions and ministries
How do I qualify?:
Technical Knowledge and Analysis Skills:
- You have knowledge of the principles and methodologies of economics, finance and tax accounting related to tax policy development
- You have knowledge of policy and program development principles/techniques and government decision making processes
- You have knowledge of research and statistical/quantitative analysis principles and techniques to conduct research projects, quantitative analysis and to identify/analyze emerging tax policy trends and options
Communication, Interpersonal & Consultation Skills:
- You have oral and written communication and presentation skills to respond to issues, provide recommendations, prepare reports, briefing materials and correspondence and contribute to the development of Cabinet submissions
- You use your relationship/partnership management skills to establish stakeholder linkages with stakeholders
- You have consensus building, consultation and advisory skills to represent the ministry on task forces/working committees to discuss taxation policy proposals, issues and concerns
Computer Skills:
Communication Skills:
- You have written communication skills to prepare reports, and briefing materials
- You have oral communication skills to make presentations to senior management
- You are proficient with research, economic, statistical, word processing, spreadsheet, graphic and database software to research and prepare analyses, briefing materials, presentations, and reports.
