About Us:


The Department of Anesthesia & Perioperative Medicine of the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, consists of 89 faculty, 46 residents and 20 clinical fellows are committed to patient-centered quality care.


Our Department provides clinical service to over 40 operating rooms daily (37,000 surgical procedures per annum) at both London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) University Hopsital and Victoria Hospital, and St.

Joseph's Health Care London.

Research Assistant

  • Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Medicine, LHSC, London, Ontario, Canada

Job Description:


Responsibilities:

1) QI Data - Dr. Catalina Casas
2) Audit chart for peri-operative deaths in Victoria hospital and University hospital as per
Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) guidelines
3) Regular meetings with supervisor regarding Anesthesia related triggers determined from
chart review
4) Maintain electronic database for critical events
5) Use of Minitab (software) to analyse and maintain the summary of hospital mortality for
each fiscal year
6) Attend and participate in quarterly meetings with the QI committee members
7) Monthly analysis of critical incidents from Post Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
complication codes and surveillance indicators that are obtained from Web Gate (LHSC)
8) Function as anonymous observer for quality improvement projects conducted at multiple
sites, including University hospital, Victoria hospital and St. Joseph's healthcare


Education:

Undergraduate degree - BScN
Certificate in Clinical Trial Management helpful


Skills:
Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint

REDCap database
Minitab software
Certificate in Good Clinical Practice
Certificate in Tri-Council Policy


Experience:

Previous Research experience, preferably in a Hospital setting
Knowledge of Clinical Trials and patient data collection


Abilities:
the data entry for each project.
