Berube's research is to develop mouse models of neurodevelopmental disorders and characterize these models at the molecular, cellular and behavioural level.


Responsibilities:


Qualifications:


  • Education:
  • PhD in molecular and cell biology

Experience:

  • 5 years of working experience in a related academic research environment with an independently developed research portfolio
  • Experience with mouse husbandry

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • In depth knowledge of the Cre/loxP system with the ability to perform behavioural tests in mice
  • Ability to perform large scale sequencing techniques including RNAsequencing and ATACsequencing
  • In depth knowledge of methods for research design, implementation, and analysis
  • Familiarity with techniques for updating, managing and extracting data from a research database
  • Ability to collaborate across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes and support work beyond one's own unit
  • Communication skills to describe technical concepts effectively to both novice and sophisticated users and with an ability to complete detailed analytics and reports
  • Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards
  • Detailoriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy
  • Ability to multitask and maintain an organized and effective personal work environment
  • Ability to work within a flexible schedule to accommodate the University's events and activities
  • Ability to provide guidance, support and feedback in a way that is positively received
  • Resultsoriented with the ability to motivate and coach employees to meet high performance standards, while working effectively as a member of the leadership team
  • Proven ability and natural inclination to develop relationships by interacting with people in a professional, respectful and diplomatic manner
