Overview:

The prime objective of the
Production Coordinator at the Exshaw Plant is to lead and coordinate all production operations in one of the three functional areas of the plant.

The incumbent will be responsible for assuring that the budgeted quantities and quality of the different types of clinker and cements are produced safely, on time, and within budget, in a clean and environmentally responsible manner.

The incumbent will ensure that operations are conducted in a continuous improvement mindset, utilizing RCA and other methodologies while actively supporting the preventative maintenance program to ensure that the full life expectancy of the equipment is met.

Responsibilities:
Safety Leadership:


  • Models proper working environment and conditions and is a leader in safety performance.
  • Promotes safety by ensuring tailgate and safety meetings are held with the area group.
  • Develops and implements the proper safety procedures (SOPs) with a continuous improvement perspective
  • Addresses identified risks (e.g. energy isolation, working at heights and all other identified risks through risk assessments), spends time in the field and displays an active management behavior, tracks associated results and communicates them in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that the department safety training and awareness program is implemented at the functional team level. Monitors the safety audit program.

  • Preventative maintenance routines are sacred
  • Adhere strictly to the 13 week planning process. Attend and actively participate to the weekly commitment meeting
  • Practice strict budgetary control
  • Focus on prevention, planning and improvement activities
  • RCAs are performed on a weekly/monthly basis
  • RCA meetings are held weekly, and monthend results and action plan progress is presented to PLT once a month
  • Demonstrate accountability and deliver on KPIs for the area (Production, MTBF, NAI)
  • Actively participate and drive the daily and monthly performance meetings
  • Support supervisors: Supervisor's time in field and active management.
  • Adhere to action item commitments, close actions in the allotted time frame
  • Adhere strictly to the bypass management process

Operational Responsibilities:


  • Continuous Improvement:
  • The Production Engineer is a key leader of a crossfunctional team which is composed of Production, Maintenance and Process personnel who are responsible for problemsolving, safety & housekeeping improvements and equipment optimization
  • Owns Root Cause Failure Analysis action plans and continuous improvement action plans, follows up with other departments on completion and implementation of improvement actions
  • Proactively looks for improvements and performance gains while eliminating reliability issues
  • Leverages the field operators to conduct walkby inspections
  • Financial:
  • Participate in the annual production budget preparation
  • Ensure brick and inventory items are correctly accounted for and signed out on a timely basis
  • Adhere to the overall production forecast
  • Leads the planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution of refractory work
  • Control thirdparty services spend and ensure strict budgetary control and efficient execution of work
  • Ensure purchase orders are entered into SAP correctly and received, work closely with Production Manager to ensure month end financial accuracy
  • Formulate capital and cost saving projects to improve efficiency and submit appropriation requests to secure project capital
  • Coordination
  • Define the area's yearly objectives (e.g. safety, environmental performance, quality, cost reduction, performance) with input from plant objectives and cascade it to all employees
  • Manage, direct and coordinate overall activities of the department and interaction with other departments
  • Supports the field operator in completing assigned walkby inspections and preventive maintenance routines
  • Plans and executes refractory work for K
  • Is the commissioning coordinator and lead for the startup of equipment after major outages
  • Define daily, weekly, monthly production plans
  • Advise and assist the Maintenance Department with the scheduling and execution of annual major repairs
  • Update and create operational SOPs and implement a continuous improvement system
  • Ensure that first level inspections in expansion plant are completed and reported findings are planned
  • Ensures raw material additive are available, manage supply chain as required
  • Ensure environmental abatement additives are availab
