The Integrated Transportation and Infrastructure Services Division (ITIS) is responsible for facilitating the installation of transportation infrastructure throughout British Columbia.

In addition to providing integrated transportation planning and establishing innovative planning, design and engineering practices, ITIS acts as the principal liaison with TI Corp and manages the Ministry's Transportation Investment Plan and the Ministry's property portfolio.

The Properties and Land Management Branch (the Branch) is responsible for over 5,000 land and water parcels held by the BC Transportation Financing Authority (BCTFA), which is a Provincial Crown corporation.

The Branch holds and manages lands acquired primarily for transportation purposes.

One of the Branch's mandates is to generate revenue for the Province by leasing or disposing of lands deemed surplus to Ministry needs which, in turn, can help fund additional infrastructure projects across the Province.

The Property Acquisition Unit (the Unit) is the ministry authority on property acquisition, land tenure and legal survey, expropriation processes and compensation entitlements and valuation in litigation resulting from past expropriations.

The Unit develops acquisition processes and guidelines and provides expert advice and guidance to Ministry staff and Executive on valuation, acquisition, expropriation, and highway tenure and survey issues.

The Unit supports the accuracy of highway tenure through legislative and regulatory changes and facilitates linkages between Regions, Districts, Major Projects, and Executive by leading the resolution of outstanding property tenure issues.

Further, the Unit supports tenure research for new and existing transportation corridors, develops and maintains the Ministry's corporate IT systems and provides training for internal and contracted property staff.
