    Manager, Science Academic Planning and Review - Kamloops, Canada - Thompson Rivers University

    Duties

    The Manager of Academic Planning and Review leads the development, implementation, and review of the Faculty's planning processes, initiating activities required by the Dean's office to fulfill contractual obligations. This role involves aligning and fulfilling the Science Academic Strategic and institutional Academic Plan, overseeing project management of science initiatives, supervising administrative staff, collaborating with Department Chairs and Faculty, and analyzing data supporting Key Performance Indicators.

    This position entails high-level decision-making, handling confidential information, and interacting with internal and external stakeholders while representing the Faculty in various contexts.

    Major Responsibilities:

    • Liaise with the People and Culture Department for HR support, coordination, and guidance
    • Supervise employees, manage performance and workload-related matters
    • Manage CUPE grievances, conflict management, and discipline
    • Identify professional development opportunities
    • Manage external contractors
    • Coordinate course and teacher evaluation instruments
    • Represent the Dean on committees
    • Work with IT department on data collection and storage
    • Provide support for Accreditation reviews
    • Assist with special projects
    • Develop funding proposals and grant applications
    • Manage accreditation processes if required
    • Review budget issues and operations
    • Collaborate with the Manager of Operations
    • Support strategic and business plans
    • Develop Faculty academic plans and procedures
    • Represent the Faculty on relevant committees
    • Liaise with internal and external agencies
    • Manage public relations and marketing initiatives
    • Provide technology support
    • Develop and implement operational policies
    • Manage space requirements
    • Collaborate with the Faculty Council

    Reports to Dean, Faculty of Science

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree, professional designation, and 5 years' experience
    • Supervisory experience and interpersonal skills
    • Financial management, research, and grant-writing skills
    • Effective communication skills
    • Understanding of HR processes
    • Ability to plan and coordinate projects
    • Strong diplomatic, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
    • Advanced computer literacy
    • Project management experience
