Integrated Infrastructure Services (IIS) Department works with a vision of inspiring trust among citizens and Council in our commitment and ability to deliver quality infrastructure.

The Infrastructure Planning & Design Branch within IIS, connects with stakeholders, business partners and community in the planning and design phases, and determines the scope, schedule and budget of projects before transitioning to the delivery phase.

As a member of the Facility Planning & Design team, you will be responsible for project management activities for the planning and design of new construction and rehabilitation projects.

As a Project Manager in this portfolio you can expect to work with City of Edmonton internal Business Partners such as Edmonton Fire Rescue Services, The Edmonton Police Service, Edmonton Transit Services, Community recreation and Culture, and City Operations.

In addition, you can expect to work with Community Stakeholders to support their projects occurring on City land or in a City Facility.

With a focus on the City of Edmonton's Cultural Commitments to Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Integrated and Excellent, you will be responsible for:

Project Management and Execution

Manage the planning & design and/or delivery of infrastructure projects including operational/strategic initiatives, resource and financial management
Define the project goals, objectives and planned deliverables in order to fulfill the requirements of the Business Partners and Project Sponsors
Review and facilitate completion of feasibility studies, master plans, functional programs and design reports, drawings and specifications, as well as operation and maintenance reports and manuals
Manage, monitor and report on progress and project health through detailed plans and schedules, ensuring the project is on budget, on schedule, and within the defined scope and quality
Participate in the development and documentation of project lessons learned, risk management in order to account for impact to the City and the business partner
Perform all activities related to thorough risk management for all projects
Document all project activities in accordance with the Project Management methodology, City policies, processes and procedures, as well as regulatory and legislative requirements
Ensure required approvals of project deliverables
Demonstrate effective and efficient use of resources

Public and Stakeholder Management

Develop and steward relationships that support the success of the projects
Develop and implement robust public/stakeholder engagement processes and activities, working in collaboration with Communications & Engagement (C&E)
Develop and implement communications plans, in collaboration with C&E
Respond and/or manage response to all project inquiries in accordance with the IIS process
Chair and/or participate in liaison and steering committee meetings, site meetings and other project related meetings

Safety Management

Ensure the project abides by any applicable City of Edmonton Occupational Health and Safety Standards and Guidelines. These documents outline OHS accountability at all levels of the organization, relative to legislative OHS requirements.
Select the appropriate prime contractor management approach for the project as outlined in the Prime Contractor Safety Program Guide
Develop the project level safety plan, implement and enforce for each project

Organizational Alignment and Continuous Improvement

Contribute to the design, implementation and continuous improvement of project management processes and practices
Comply with all applicable policies, directives, guidelines and processes, and ensure all procedures are complete
Operate with a high degree of influence and effectiveness, achieved through collaboration and maximizing the contribution of all stakeholders
Contribute to and uphold a positive public image and culture

Leadership

Lead multidisciplinary teams consisting of consultants, contractors, business partners and stakeholders
Foster a culture of collaboration and networking amongst project team, across the corporation and beyond
Lead, establish and exemplify the desired culture throughout the project teams that supports the IIS Vision and Mission as well as the Corporate Leadership Principles
Establish, demonstrate and hold others accountable to the values of the Department, Branch, Section and Unit

Qualifications:

Completion of a four (4) year degree in a related field such as Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Science, Business or Project Management and a minimum of six (6) years directly related experience in commercial, recreation, landscaping or light industrial construction including project management experience
