    Middle School Language Teacher ( 1 year maternity leave )

    Position Description

    Kempenfelt Bay School seeks a Middle School ( grads 6 through 8 ) language teacher for the - school year. This is a one year contract covering a maternity leave. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Achievement and Wellness and will possess strong communication skills, an excellent ability to develop a strong rapport with students and share in a culture of thinking that promotes inquiry and innovation. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with all members of the primary division and to contribute to the many facets of school life at KBS.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Creating a class environment that inspires and supports learning
  • Establish effective rapport with students
  • Establish good relationships with parents, faculty and other staff members
  • Ensure the written, taught and assessed curriculum is in line with KBS curriculum expectations and Ministry of Education curriculum, ensuring differentiation
  • Collaborate with other members of faculty within the division team and school to create innovative lessons and units that embrace the inquiry and integrative thinking framework
  • Update all necessary records accurately as required by Ministry and CAIS school guidelines
  • Communicate information regularly regarding student progress including formally through report cards and parent-teacher interviews
  • Keep up to date with developments in the subject area and approaches to teaching and learning through professional reading, participating in workshops and other professional development opportunities
  • Participate actively in faculty and department/division meetings
  • Assume responsibility for and participate in co-curricular activities
  • Supervision duties as required

    • Qualifications and Attributes

  • Bachelor of Education from an accredited institution
  • Registered with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT)
  • Minimum one year teaching experience
  • Knowledge of relevant technology and able to work with a Google Platform
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills
  • Work independently with little direct supervision
  • A strong ability to work as part of a team
  • Possess effective time management skills
  • Demonstrate a desire to be a lifelong learner
  • Demonstrate innovation and enthusiasm as a teacher
