The Role:

Reporting to the Director, Infrastructure Maintenance, the General Supervisor, Mobility Network Maintenance leads a team in the execution of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.


The Mobility Network Maintenance Unit is responsible for asphalt maintenance, repair and rehabilitation projects involving roads, alleys, paths, rail crossing, parking lots, and sidewalks.

The General Supervisor is instrumental in creating a positive work culture that promotes diversity and inclusion with the goal of increasing employee engagement and overall team performance.


With a focus on client satisfaction, the General Supervisor, Mobility Network Maintenance provides supervision, leadership, guidance and oversight to a diverse team of approximately seven senior staff and a geographically distributed workforce of up to 400 staff (permanent, seasonal, in-scope and out of scope positions).


Goals and deliverables:


  • Implementation of the budgets
  • Oversee the delivery expectations (Edmontonians, Council) and ensure that they are aligned with the City's goals and objectives
  • Ensure the public is well informed of service level changes/impacts and concerns are addressed
  • Continue to monitor and improve upon the performance measurement system (i.e. key performance indicators) is established, monitored and that timely corrective actions are taken to ensure the efficient delivery of service
  • Ensuring the prudent and effective use of financial and human resources in the planning and delivery of work
  • Coordinate labour, equipment and materials required to perform scheduled and responsive service delivery
  • Anticipate business opportunities, influence policy, planning and initiatives and foster a culture of accountability through performance measurement
  • Integrate multidisciplinary teams to work collaboratively with stakeholders supporting corporate priorities
  • Build new and innovative collaborative partnerships with external agencies, orders of government, community organizations and internal departments and branches

Qualifications:


  • Knowledge, training and/or education in Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration or a related discipline
  • Master's Degree in a related field would be considered an asset
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation is considered an asset. P.Eng requires the member to be in good standing with APEGA
  • Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) is considered an asset. C.E.T. requires the member to be in good standing with ASET
  • Experience in senior leadership roles with a large, complex organization
  • Experience managing a large, diverse team in the provision of complex operations management and program management or other related activities
