As a Talent Acquisition Consultant, you will ensure the City of Edmonton has a talented, engaged, and diverse workforce You will utilize your talent acquisition expertise and experience working in a unionized environment to support clients' business interests in times of economic change.


This role places great importance on providing excellent customer service, delivering high-quality consulting services to line managers, supervisors, and employees in Recruitment, Selection & Governance.

This isn't a typical Recruiter role - our Consultants are HR leaders-in-the-making who foster strong internal and external relationships, creatively overcome sourcing obstacles, contribute to department and company-wide initiatives, and gain exposure to employee performance management.

With a focus on the City of Edmonton's Cultural Commitments of Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Integrated and Excellent, you will:

  • Independently execute the full life cycle recruiting process that involve multiple collective agreements
  • Ensure a consistent and transparent recruitment process is undertaken
  • Interpret and advise Hiring Managers on collective agreement terms related to the recruitment and selection process
  • Manage recruitment issues of a unique or complex nature
  • Liaise with Unions to reach agreement for related assessment tools, posting waivers, etc.
  • Manage the recruitment grievance process through formally representing the employer in grievance procedures under multiple collective agreements
  • Regularly handle information and strategies related to labour relations activities
  • Provide guidance, direction and coaching to Talent Acquisition Coordinators
  • Participate in special projects (i.e. recruiting campaigns, sourcing strategies)
  • Contribute to process improvements; provide input on an ongoing basis to enhance recruitment processes
  • Participate in workforce planning strategy meetings
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:


  • Education or applied knowledge in Talent Acquisition, Human Resources, Business Administration, Diversity Equity and Inclusion, or a related degree
  • Progressively responsible experience in talent acquisition related to diversity & inclusion and consultation, ideally in a unionized environment
  • Experience advising business partners on best practices and presenting creative solutions
  • Proven experience managing multiple, competing priorities
  • Take initiative and think through problems creatively
  • Ability to seek perspectives, deal effectively with differing viewpoints, and utilize an interestbased problem solving approach
  • Demonstrated ability in establishing strong collaborative working relationships with clients, coworkers and unions
  • Resourceful, selfmotivated, with a sense of urgency
  • High level of discretion with confidential material
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, ethically, and with integrity
  • High degree of flexibility and adaptability in order to deal with a heavy workload and changing work priorities
  • Excellent conflict resolution and problem solving skills

$67,034 - $95,763 (Annually)
