    Description

    Job Title: Building By-Law Enforcement Officer at The Corporation of the City of Windsor

    Reporting to the Manager of Inspections/Deputy Chief Building Official, the Building By-Law Enforcement Officer is accountable for ensuring compliance with the City's By-Laws, such as the Maintenance and Occupancy Standards By-Law, Zoning By-Law, and others. Responsibilities include investigating complaints, conducting property inspections, and issuing orders for by-law violations. This role also involves preparing detailed electronic reports and providing expert testimony in court proceedings when necessary.

    • Must have an Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma and (3) years of post-secondary education in relevant fields.
    • Must possess a valid Class 'G' Driver's Licence and have knowledge of various building systems.
    • Experience in a computerized office environment and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite is required.
    • Effective communication and negotiation skills are essential.
    • Knowledge of relevant by-laws and acts is crucial.
    • Experience with document management systems and municipal law enforcement is advantageous.
    • Membership and Certification with relevant associations is a plus.
    • Successful completion of specified examinations will be considered an asset.
    • This position involves light physical work.
