    RATE OF PAY: $34.91 – $41.09 per hour

    SHIFT WORK REQUIRED: No

    HOURS OF WORK: 37.5

    DUTIES:


    1. Reporting to the Manager of Inspections/Deputy Chief Building Official
    2. Responsible for the enforcement of the City's Bylaws as assigned under the Chief Building Official
    3. Investigate complaints and perform inspections and investigations of properties
    4. Prepare and input electronic reports for each inspection performed
    5. Issue orders to property owners and other affected parties
    6. Swear information, serve summonses, prepare court briefs and attend court proceedings
    7. Provide information to the public, property owners, tenants, and other City departments
    8. Maintain excellent interpersonal relations with the public and fellow staff
    9. Perform Occupational Health & Safety duties
    10. Perform other related duties as required

    QUALIFICATIONS:


    Must have:

    • Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma plus (3) years of post-secondary education
    • Over three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in building construction or building maintenance
    • Current, valid Class 'G' Driver's Licence
    • Working knowledge of structures, electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems
    • Experience in a computerized office environment
    • Effective oral and written communication skills
    • Knowledge of relevant by-laws and acts
    • Experience with the AMANDA document management system (considered an asset)
    • Work-related experience in Municipal Law Enforcement (considered an asset)
    • Membership and Certification with the Ontario Association of Property Standards Officers (considered an asset)
    • Successful completion of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing "Legal/Process" examination (considered an asset)
