Access / Specialized Transit Driver

Location:
Milton, ON
PWTransit is currently seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as part-time Access / Specialized Transit Bus Drivers. Part-time drivers will receive a guarantee of 25 hours per week.

Responsibilities

Transport customers in accordance with Municipal and Company policies, observing all traffic laws and safety rules and adhering to time schedules
Complete a variety of vehicle and incident reports as required. Carry out emergency/accident procedures when required
Courteously and professionally interact with customers, including loading mobility devices and escorting customers to and from curbside as required, answer inquiries en route, make general announcements to customers, issue transfers, collect correct fares and ensure valid passes are presented and arrange for passenger pickup and dropoff as required

Qualifications

Valid unrestricted G driver's license with a demonstrated record of safe and responsible driving over the past 5 years (driver's abstract will be requested)
Minimum 1 year of previous commercial driving experience
Significant skills dealing effectively with the public, including demonstrated skills in conflict resolution, problem solving, and sound decisionmaking in positions providing customer service
Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to communicate effectively with the traveling public and to report on incidents involving safety and/or service
Willing to work shifts, including split shifts, weekends, and statutory holidays
No criminal convictions or pending charges relating directly to the Operator position

Additional Information

A good knowledge of Milton and area is an asset
Selected applicants will be required to participate in a comprehensive recruitment process which consists of interviews, trainability session, medical examination (as required for licensing), drug and alcohol screening, criminal record and reference checks

Wage
Starting at $22.20 per hour and increasing to $24.42 after one year
