SUMMARY


Reporting to the Director, Contract Packaging Performance Solutions, the Quality and Compliance Specialist ensures that quality standards and current procedures meet or exceed Canadian regulations as well as the standards set by our clients.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for quality and compliance processes across multiple sites.
  • Ensuring that all processes, products, and facilities adhere to regulatory requirements and standards specific to the cannabis and food industries. Staying up to date with changing regulations and implementing necessary changes to maintain compliance.
  • Implementing and maintaining a rigorous quality control system to monitor product quality and consistency. This includes the inspection of raw materials, production processes, and finished products.
  • Maintaining detailed records of quality control checks, test results, and compliance documentation with a specific focus on CPPP and QAP requirements for audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Developing and maintaining HACCP plans for food safety, identifying potential hazards, and implementing control measures to minimize risks.
  • Investigating and addressing any quality or safety issues by conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Assessing and ensuring the quality and compliance of suppliers, including those providing raw materials, equipment, or packaging materials.
  • Providing training to employees on quality assurance protocols and safety measures to maintain consistency in quality and compliance.
  • Work closely with all departments to ensure staff are working in compliance with client expectations.
  • Provide recommendations for process improvement to reduce cost and improve quality.
  • Assist with the preparation of external quality audits.
  • Investigating and addressing any quality or safety issues by conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Developing and maintaining product recall plans in case of safety or quality concerns.
  • Developing and updating SOPs related to quality assurance processes and ensuring that employees follow these procedures.
  • Maintain paperwork and documentation accurately and effectively.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining an environment that promotes positive communication within the facility as well as fostering teamwork within the operation.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality assurance, preferably in the food and cannabis industry.
  • Previously approved QAP/AQAP and cannabis security clearance preferred.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with crossfunctional teams.
  • Excellent problemsolving skills, including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Prior experience with audits and regulatory inspections

EDUCATION

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in a related field (Food Science, Quality Assurance, etc.) or equivalent experience.
