Description

The Service and Warranty Technician will oversee the efficient administrative process, which supports the construction team and helps ensure great customer experiences.

Knowledge in all basic construction trades as the role will require the person to handle minor repairs.

The role requires a high level of customer interaction to ensure all client needs are met as well as attention to details for the maintenance of quality control of the product.


Key Accountabilities

Customer Service:


  • Provide a high level of customer service with quality workmanship to Lindvest Homeowners in occupied residential homes after various inspections are completed.
  • Communicates and deals with the home owners facetoface with regards to their deficiencies.
  • Obtain customer signatures on completed work orders.
  • Creating a friendly environment when PDI's or deficiencies are being addressed with the customer.
  • Recognize opportunities to provide WOW factor to the homeowner during the service appointment including additional requests (within reason).
  • Completes work orders and obtains trade assistance in conducting repairs when required

Quality Control:


  • Reports defects and damages to Inspector if applicable.
  • Pre-Inspect all work orders for any unclear work orders or desk assessments; communicate with coordinator, and manager if needed.
  • Responsible for ensuring all materials and tools are ready for daily repairs and at the appropriate construction site.
  • Maintains the highest standards of quality workmanship and leaves space clean after repairs for homeowners.
  • Improves, corrects and reports concerns in quality workmanship

Minor Repairs:


  • The Service and Warranty Technician is responsible for conducting minor general repairs.
  • Conducts minor interior repairs on windows, doors, frames, baseboards, floors and carpets, electrical repairs (i.e. faceplates, light bulbs), carpentry finishing (i.e. trim), exterior repairs on garage, decking, foundation, repairs to attic, insulation and drywall.
  • Installs and repairs bathroom accessories when needed;
  • Performs touch up painting when required;
  • Replaces grills, vents, filters, hinges, valves and heating pipes;
  • Team Communication and Reporting:
  • Report all issues that arise during a repair and all follow up repairs that may need a second visit to the Customer Care Coordinator.
  • Troubleshoots with Site Superintendents and Finishing Site Superintendents on issues needing to be resolved.
  • Responsible for daily updates to the reporting managers in charge of assigned project.
  • Timely conversations with the Customer Care Coordinator to provide adequate support to sites in need

Key Technical Skills or Experience Required:

  • Two-Five years of years of relevant work experience in the construction industry.
  • High School Diploma, as a minimum OR Graduate Certificate in Construction Management, or College Diploma.
  • Knowledge in the framing, plumbing, electrical and carpentry work
  • Knowledge in home building would be an asset
  • Ability to work, operate and handle tools
  • Knowledge of Tarion Warranty Corporation Construction Performance Guidelines and Warranty Coverage is an asset
  • Knowledge of construction processes and repair methods as well as quality finishing work is an asset.
  • Professional in conduct and appearance
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word and Excel)
  • Previous use of NewStar, BuildPro an asset
