Duties:


The ERP Business System Analyst is responsible for designing and facilitating business process improvement initiatives within St Lawrence College's Enterprise Resource Planning system (Oracle PeopleSoft).

These improvements focus on enhancing institutional efficiency, effectiveness and capacity while leveraging opportunities to save time, reduce workload, redirect resources, and improve the overall quality of the student experience.

The ERP Business System Analyst is responsible for requirements gathering and management.

Specifically, the Business System Analyst elicits, analyzes, validates, and documents business, organizational/operational requirements from Functional Application Owners and ITS Management.

They also design solutions to satisfy these requirements. Solutions often include systems development or configuration but may also consist of process improvement or organizational change.

This support can include options analysis, ROI assessment and RFP review. The incumbent is accountable for small to medium projects following defined project management methodologies.


The ERP Business System Analyst acts as an internal consultant and provides expertise to identify the business needs of their clients and stakeholders to determine solutions to business problems.

In addition, they are a key facilitator within the organization, acting as a bridge between the functional areas and the technical team.


Qualifications:


Education and Experience:


A minimum of a 3-year diploma/degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Information Systems Technology, Computer Science, or other related fields is required.

Certification in the Project Management or Business Analysis fields, such as the IIBA's CAPM, PMP, CCBA or CBAP designation, is an asset.


A minimum of 5 years of practical current demonstrated ERP Business System Analyst experience in the implementation, upgrade, or continued enhancement of an ERP system.

Experience with documentation techniques using computer systems in an educational environment, including advanced PC and ERP functional/technical skills Experience using project management, analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills to identify issues and determine possible innovative solutions.

Experience working independently in a team environment, planning, organizing, and prioritizing work to meet deadlines.

Experience in negotiation and conflict resolution while working effectively with various people, including ERP Functional Application Owners, ITS management and staff, clients, and service agencies, communicating with technical and non-technical staff.

Experience developing and conducting presentations.

Performing software analysis using ERP (Oracle PeopleSoft) and Microsoft technologies and ERP-specific tools such as Oracle People Tools 8.57+, People Code, Application Engine, Integration Broker, Web Services, Component Interfaces, SQRs, Query Manager, BI Publisher, XML, Application Designer, Fluid, and Microsoft SQL Server T-SQL.

Additional skills related to SQL Server Integration Services, SQL Server Reporting Services, Microsoft Azure, and Microsoft 365.

Experience dealing with sensitive and confidential information appropriately and keeping with the College policies related to confidentiality and the Protection of Privacy (FIPPA).

Physical/Work Environment Essential Requirements:


The successful incumbent must have the ability to report to the work location and work temporarily from a remote location with reliable internet access, as approved by the College and in accordance with the college's Telework Policy.

The incumbent may be required to sit a computer for two-hours at a time. Travel of inter-campus travel may be required.
