Job Summary:

We are seeking a
Health and Safety Senior COR Consultant to join our team for GTA.

The H&S / COR Consultant will be responsible for performing detailed review and assessment of existing H&S programs for Clients, conducting gap analysis on Client's health and safety management systems, identification of training needs and elaborating advisory revisions with solutions for improvement opportunities together with development of corrective action plans and implementation strategies.


In addition, H&S / COR Consultant will be responsible for working with assigned companies, and other organizations within his/her assigned geographical region to assist them in establishing and monitoring active H&S Management system and self-sustaining internal responsibility system (IRS).


H&S / COR Consultant will work closely with the Client(s) providing consultation and assistance in the administration, monitoring and maintenance of company H&S programs with the goal of exceeding legislative and regulatory standards, Certificate of Recognition (COR) and client requirements.


Qualifications:


  • Postsecondary education (Degree, Diploma or Certificate) from an accredited national college or university in Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) and/or industryrelated skilled trade designation with related practical experience required.
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) or Certified Health & Safety Consultant (CHSC) designation preferred.
  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation preferred.
  • Completion of a recognized safety practitioner training program through established national or provincial construction industry safety association or other organization.
  • Preference should be given to those who hold one or more recognized OH&S certifications.

Work Experience:

A minimum of five years of full-time (or full-time equivalent) experience as an OH&S practitioner, preferably in related industrial sector, which includes but not limited the following:

  • Developing, implementing and maintaining OH&S programs and management systems
  • Delivering OH&S related training or specific structured courses to various stakeholders within organization
  • Auditing internal OH&S program & management systems (e.g., Certificate of Recognition CORTM, ISO 45001, CSA Z1000)
  • Investigating workplace incidents
  • Conducting workplace inspections
  • Proactive and reactive OH&S performance and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) monitoring and analysis
  • Coordinating / Supervising OH&S related projects using established project management principles
  • Interacting with representatives of OH&S and other regulatory agencies
  • Participation in joint committees or working groups to develop taskspecific or bestknown safety related standards and practices

  • Strong leadership skills and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of established OH&S safety management system standards (e.g., Certificate of Recognition CORTM, ISO 45001, CSA Z1000)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of OH&S and related legislation applicable to the organization
  • Familiarity with business management principles, including time management, accounting, budgeting, resource allocation, and project management
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development
  • Knowledge and experience in OH&S program development, delivery, adult training and education principles.
  • Advanced knowledge of Health and Safety management systems, programs, services, auditing and current federal and provincial legislation.
  • Demonstrated success implementing return to work/disability management programs
  • Ability to manage and prioritize a variety of projects simultaneously.
  • Work well independently and collaborative within a team.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Analyzing clients' needs to identify operational, health, and safety requirements and elaborating solutions that meet their budget and work requirements for operational OH&S standards
  • Assisting clients with OH&S services and developing customized solutions to meet legal requirements and client needs
  • Managing time and priorities effectively to ensure deliverables are aligned, executed, and implemented to satisfy clients' needs and meet minimum legislative requirements
