Overview of the Opportunity:
The Accounting Technician will perform general accounting duties as well as support accountants and other financing professionals with various tasks and responsibilities such as recording revenues and investments, preparing bank reconciliations and processing customer bills and accounts receivable.
Roles and Responsibilities:

Day-to Day Accounting: Assist a broad range of small business clients with day-to-day accounting queries while assisting on CRA assessment reviews and preparing of personal tax returns.

Internal Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain regular contact with Manager or Partners, and provide updates on engagement process.

External Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate directly with clients, government agencies and other business contacts as required.

Report Preparation: Prepare specialized financial reports as requested by clients, basic corporate tax returns, notice of financial statements and notice to reader financial statements.

Filing and Investigation: Prepare regular external filings such as T4's and T5's, HST and EHT returns, as well as identify investigate and correct discrepancies and/or irregularities in client financial entries, documents, and reports.
- Maintain professional and Firm standards.
- Attend internal and external courses to further develop accounting knowledge.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Education_
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, or equivalent diploma or experience
Experience_
- Zero to three years' in public accounting or a comparable organization performing similar work for ownermanaged clients;
Skills and Knowledge_
- Superior time and task management skills;
- Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks (desktop and online) and TaxPrep or a similar tax program are assets;
- Experience with fullcycle bookkeeping;
- Solid understanding of business, accounting and bookkeeping principles.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with an ability to effectively convey messages and collect information;
- High degree of professionalism and the ability to build rapport with clients and external business contacts.
- Experience with ownermanaged, small to midsize businesses and experience with notforprofit organizations are also assets.
